ShowUp Announces Reciprocal Ecology, curated by Cassandra Klos
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 31, 2026, Boston – ShowUp is pleased to announce its upcoming guest-curated photography exhibition, Reciprocal Ecology, on view from March 6th - April 26th, 2026. Curated by Cassandra Klos, the show features lens-based artwork by Kelly Burgess, Daesha Devon Harris, Jodie Goodnough, Billy Hickey, Alexandra Ionescu, Camilla Jerome, Jordanna Kalman, Vanessa Leroy, Chris Maliga, Owen McCarter, Lisa McCarty, JaLeel Porcha, Sandra Stark and John Tully. During the two month show, the gallery will host a series of events, including an opening reception on Friday, March 6th, 2026 from 5pm to 8pm.
Reciprocal Ecology showcases the work of photographers who engage with the natural world in a variety of ways. While some directly involve the use of the elements to make their work, others respond to nature in a dynamic give-and-take dialogue. Using a wide variety of styles, subjects, and materials, these artists use the great outdoors in unexpected and interesting ways to produce work that is fresh, exciting, and will make the viewer appreciate the cyclical nature of our changing landscape through fresh eyes.
From Cassandra Klos: “I’m proud to present this exhibition, which explores themes drawn from the literary teachings of Robin Wall Kimmerer and the transcendentalists. With what can feel like a never-ending cycle of winter days here in New England, the artists in this show remind us that change and renewal are always in motion. Nature is continuously responding to us, just as we respond to it.”
“Guest exhibitions amplify new artist perspectives at ShowUp and help connect artists and the community, fulfilling two key pieces of our nonprofit gallery’s mission,” says Christine O’Donnell, Executive Director of ShowUp. “We are particularly excited by the ways in which Reciprocal Ecology’s concept is directly tied to the timetable of the exhibition in March and April. With the emergence of spring, this exhibition’s central theme touches upon the year’s cyclical renewal, a promise of rebirth and growth that can steady us in unstable times.”
ShowUp is open Thursdays - Saturdays 12-5 and Sundays 11-4. An opening reception for Reciprocal Ecology will be held on Friday, March 6th from 5pm to 8pm. An artist talk and additional events will be announced in the coming weeks.
