Join us for a fun event from our collaborators Castle Of Our Skins!
Ahead of her February 21 Spot/Light performance at Black Market Nubian, artist Zahili Zamora leads an interactive, community-centered workshop exploring the rhythmic foundations of Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian music.
This free, one-hour workshop invites participants to experience groove in the body, focusing on rhythmic frameworks such as clave, tumbao, samba, and related traditions—and how they continue to shape contemporary jazz and global music. Through listening, clapping, movement, and hands-on playing, participants will deepen their understanding of feel, coordination, and cultural context. No prior musical experience is required. All are welcome.
Free and open to the public
