Call For Artists: See It Go!
Boston’s Citgo sign has been a landmark of the city’s skyline since 1965. The iconic logo has come to symbolize much more than a mere brand. ShowUp is excited to share an opportunity to take part in Boston’s first edition of the Affordable Art Fair (October 23-26th) through an exhibition focused on this classic landmark.
We are looking for contemporary artworks that portray, reference or otherwise make use of the Citgo sign in fun and compelling ways. What does it mean when one of our most beloved landmarks is literally a giant logo of an oil company?
Artists are invited to submit up to three ready-to-hang works (original or small edition digital, two dimensional or a hanging sculptural pieces $5000 and under) up to 30 x 30 inches for consideration. We are prioritizing local artists for this show; we do not have the capacity to accept shipped work nor ship back unsold pieces.
Key dates
Submission deadline: July 1st, 2025
Artists notified of acceptance: August 1st, 2025
Dropoff of artwork: October 18th-19th (or earlier if prior arrangements are made)

Guidelines:
Submission of artwork is considered an acceptance of all guidelines. The terms and conditions are considered to lay out the consignment agreement, so please read them carefully.
All juror decisions are to be considered final.
Artworks must be 30 x 30 inches or smaller in all dimensions for their final finished measurements for exhibition purposes (framed, etc.).
This exhibition is open to anyone who can deliver artwork in person. We are not capable of receiving shipped artwork nor shipping artwork for returns.
No other artwork can substitute for the piece submitted and accepted. Please commit your piece to the exhibition once accepted.
Artwork must be brought ready to hang. If we cannot hang it or display it, we will not be able to show it.
There is no cost to submit your artwork; you may submit up to three artworks for consideration.
All works must have a price associated, for insurance purposes. Please make a note in your application if a piece should be listed as “Not For Sale” when on display.
If artwork is not picked up within 6 months of the pickup date it will be considered abandoned and property of the gallery. It will be sold for fundraising purposes with no further monies due the artist.
